Our Story
From Vision to Institution
Our journey began with a vision carried by Emmanuel and Camille Kampouris through the Emmanuel Foundation. In the early 2000s, they launched the Kairos Journal — a trusted resource providing pastors and Christian leaders worldwide with tools to interpret Scripture and engage the world with timely wisdom.
That vision grew. The Kairos Journal gave rise to BibleMesh — an organization committed to providing trusted theological education resources to Christians around the world, developing online courses and teaching students through the BibleMesh Institute.
Now, that vision has matured. The Alexandrian Institute grows from this rich history of teaching students and providing resources to the global church. As a formal institution, we serve the Church and train Christian leaders, from the pew to PhD.
Why "Alexandrian"?
Historical Roots
The Council of Nicaea stands as the defining moment when the church confessed Christ according to the Scriptures as “very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father.” From Nicaea in AD 325 through Constantinople in 381 to Chalcedon in 451, the church guarded the faith entrusted to the Apostles.
But the road to Nicaea was paved with the legacy of Alexandria.
It was from this city that the great pillars of the faith emerged: Athanasius, who defended the deity of Christ against fierce opposition, and Cyril, who championed the union of the two natures in the Person of the Divine Son. Preserving divine wisdom required both courage and deep fidelity to Scripture—a willingness to carefully contend for “the faith delivered once for all to the saints.”
Personal Connection
There's another era of Alexandria that shapes us. Our founder, Emmanuel Kampouris, was born there before bringing this vision to the world. Thus, the roots of our vision grow deep in Alexandria's fertile soil — both ancient and personal. We honor both the Alexandria of the fathers and the Alexandria of our founder.
Our Mission
For centuries, Alexandria has shaped how the church reads Scripture, confesses Christ, and engages the world. That legacy continues in scholars and pastors who stand on the shoulders of giants—reading Scripture according to its own logic, articulating the faith with clarity, and equipping others to do the same.
In the Alexandrian Institute, we’re reviving this legacy.
We cultivate the same intellectual rigor and courageous passion for truth that defined Alexandria’s greatest minds—training a new generation to read Scripture faithfully, think theologically, and engage culture wisely.
